Off-Season Schedule (UPDATED)

Post  hogtradition22 on Wed Feb 08, 2012 12:52 pm

2/9/12
**As soon as we are able to get rosters down to 48 and resign contract year players we will close the trade deadline. There is a possibility that we will open the draft early so we can begin the draft process. If we do this we ask that you check the draft console whenever you can throughout the day to see if it is your pick or if you pick is getting close. This will be a slow process so please note that now. Some picks may take 5 min. while others hours. The purpose of this is to to try and speed up the draft for us that we will hold Sunday night @ 7:30 CST. We will pick up where ever we are in the draft so make sure you are there. guitarDADDY and I discussed this yesterday and found out our friends over at the NNFL league are doing this so we decided to push forward with the idea. Our expectations are set low for this because you cannot predict a persons schedule. but we feel any picks that are made will result in a shorter draft on Sunday.

** Note: If we do what is listed above the trade deadline will be moved up. You would have until we send our a message saying draft has started. Added If anyone needs more time to process trades let us know. We don;t have that many trades so we thought this would not be a problem. Thanks.

We will use the following schedule to ensure our off-season does not take longer than a season itself. Please get the following done ASAP so you will not hold up the league. Each step will begin after the one in front of it ends

1. 9th Thursday - Rosters must be down to 48 players.

2. 10th Friday - Resign any players you want to keep that are in their contract year.

3. 11th Saturday - Trade Deadline: All trades must be proposed and posted in the correct thread. You must use the trade calculator to see if trades meet the proposed criteria. The trade Calculator can be found here -- > Trade Calculator

4. 12th Sunday - Rookie Draft & Rookie Signings- We will hold the rookie draft @ 7:30 PM CST Rookie Signings will be made following the conclusion of the draft.

-If you are unable to make the draft you must have your draft board submitted in a PM on the forums to hogtradition22 no later than Saturday night @ 10:00 PM CST. If no draft board is submitted the best available player will be selected for you.

If you have any questions about any of the steps above please visit the following links. If you still have question feel free to get in touch with me or any of the other admins.

**Note - The following post were for last seasons draft. but hold useful information that will help you understand the whole off-season process.

have we not advanced into the offseason? no players have progressed yet, and I was hoping to see before I start cutting down my roster

the work around for that is to go to your roster and click on a player and then go to their contract tab

hogtradition are we not doing FA Bidding or do we just sign players like we would during the season? and also when i try to resign my players it says "Invalid request. The EA server does not permit signing athletes in the offseason"

We cannot resign players yet.

This is how the offseason works in XFN:

  1. Cut down to 48 players on your roster (or less than 48 if you have extra draft picks). This is done because you must have room for all your players in the rookie draft. Typically a team has 7 picks in 7 rounds. The roster maximum is 55. 55-7=48.
  2. Then, league is advanced to the draft. This is when you can begin to resign your players who appear in "red" in the sign/resign page.
  3. Then, the actual draft happens. 32 teams select rookies for 7 rounds.
  4. Then, teams have the opportunity to sign/cut players from the rookie draft.
  5. Then, the league is advanced to the Free Agent bidding.
  6. After the FA bidding, the offseason is over and we are officially in week 1.

Does roster breakdown not work? I'm trying to find out how many people I need to cut. I tried counting, and I think I'm good. I counted 48 or less players on my roster by site. Anyone able to verify how many players are on my roster right now?
